UN WOMEN EXPAND THEIR ACTIVITIES IN UZBEKISTAN

A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Shakhlo Turdikulova is taking part in the 67th annual session of the Commission on the Status of Women, which continues until March 17 this year.
During the session, the head of delegation Sh. Turdikulova met with the Deputy Executive Director of UN Women Anita Bhatia, during which she highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at ensuring gender equality and women's rights, raising their status in society.
The UN representative expressed readiness to provide comprehensive assistance in the implementation of the strategy for achieving gender equality in Uzbekistan until 2030 and the national program for increasing women's activity in all spheres of economic, political and social life of the country in 2022-2026. In particular, specific projects will be developed and implemented related to cooperation on launching programs of innovation and digital technologies for broad involvement of women in entrepreneurship.
As a result of the meeting, a precise agreement was reached on the introduction of a manager responsible for the implementation of UN-Women activities and projects in Uzbekistan starting from April this year.
In addition, bilateral meetings with foreign delegations were held on the margins of the 67th session of the UN and a number of agreements were reached.
In particular, at the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Sh. Turdikulova with the Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Kyrgyzstan, practical mechanisms of cooperation in higher education and innovation activities were discussed and an agreement was reached to create a special project for startups and innovation projects related to female students in Kyrgyzstan this year.
