Biography
He was born on February 6, 1979, in the historic part of Tashkent, formerly known as Medgorodok, into a family of doctors. From an early age, he showed an interest in sports, particularly in judo, where he achieved notable success.
After obtaining a law degree, he began his career as a junior lawyer and gradually rose to the rank of colonel and the title of Senior Counsellor of Justice. One of the key milestones in his professional path was his appointment as the youngest head of a department in the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan.
From June 2011 to September 2013, he headed the department of the Tashkent Regional Prosecutor’s Office dealing with investigations into economic crimes and corruption cases. Between 2013 and 2018, he led the department of the General Prosecutor’s Office for combating organized crime and corruption.
In 2018, he was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General and also became head of Uzavtosanoat JSC. He led the company from June 27, 2018, to March 23, 2023, focusing on the development of the country’s automotive industry.
In 2022, he became Chairman of the Gymnastics Federation of Uzbekistan, contributing to the creation of a long-term program for the development of gymnastics.
From March 23, 2023, he served as Acting Hokim (Mayor) of Tashkent, succeeding First Deputy Hokim Bakhtiyor Rakhmanov in this role. Formally, his predecessor was Jahongir Artikhodjaev, who had been dismissed on January 16 of that year. He was later officially confirmed as the Mayor of the capital.
He is married and has three daughters. In his free time, he continues to engage in sports. He has been awarded the orders “Sodik hizmatlari uchun” and “Mehnat shuhrati.”
